Captain : Kat Goodhew

Our esteemed captain is a lady of many talents. To try and get past her on a hockey pitch is nigh on impossible, to beat her at articulate is a task none of us will ever attempt again, to out ring her at church bell ringing? Not something I would try to do! Her weakness? Well from video evidence she can't dance for toffee…but then none of us apparently can!

Vice Captain : Becky Perry

The life and soul of West Herts 1^st team. She puts as much effort on the pitch as she does to ensure that every spare minute is spent planning trips to the pub, badders, top golf and that the whole team is supporting the club where we can. Her skills are endless..........driving, singing, dancing and navigating all at the same time is her thing! The sound of the backboard from a Perry straight strike is a sweet sound and happens more often than not. Before long she will be breaking the net with her drag flicks. She has the opposition in a spin (as well as herself sometimes) down that right hand side and now fires the ball towards that far post!

Coach : Harriet Preest

Harry quietly goes about her business as coach and likes nothing better than witnessing the effort and enthusiasm of the team on a Saturday. She is known for the odd email or two especially the Friday motivational ones that no one replies to! Her recliner is her favourite possession and really wishes she could sit it in more especially when Strictly is on! You might hear her playing badders if you happen to be on the squash courts at Woodside on a Monday!

Jenny Black

Our silky skilled Scottish lass leaves defenders behind as her dribbling skills break through anything any opposition put in front of her. She is just as dangerous off the pitch, especially when dressed as an elderly man in pyjamas! Also watch out for her on the dance floor, the lawn mower move can blow a dance off out of the water!

Sally Bradley

Young and full of energy, Sally is keen to make her mark in the 1^st team. Small enough to allow Harry to drive her impractical car to away games but big enough to push people off the ball on the hockey pitch!

Nicole Cohen

Newcomer Nicole has made a great impact at the Ladies 1's, showing what a great bunch of youth goalkeepers we have at West Herts. Now all she needs to learn is some better fines and how to stop getting grounded!!

Becci Cooke

She is currently returning from injury and has been missed so far this season. Becci Cooke is known for calming down the rest of the feisty team. She is as cool as a cucumber and as solid as a rock. She also owns the team mascot - Caffreys, but who is better known as Jenny Black.

Sophie Cooke

Sophie the hairdressing stylist is known for having the best hair in the ladies 1’s. Others in the team will try anything to get their hair looking as classy as Sophie’s but they all fail (including Becky doing Helen’s hair!) She is also known for her distinct running style, which leaves opposition stunned as she gallops on by.

Vicky Honour

A player who can strike the ball so hard that players drop down in fear all around her…especially Helen on the other side of the pitch…but her tough exterior gives way to her true colours when she supplies the team with a regular supply of freshly baked goods, she loves us really!

Helen Humphrey

She goes by many names, Bambi, Alan, Northern…but the one that fits her the most? 'Heroic Helen', always putting herself on the line for the sake of the team, coming off the pitch battered and bruised…it's just a shame that most of these bruises have been caused by running into her own players.

Anna McGlaughlin

She is known for doing a little bit of exercise off the hockey pitch – the occasional light jog, play swim or cycle to the shops! She doesn’t hold back on the pitch, and comes off the pitch after a game with a new bruise or astro burn to add to the collection! She is feisty and fearless like a terrier and will never surrender .

Jess Perry

No one has heard grunting until they have heard Jess Perry on the hockey pitch, she would give Sharapova a run for her money! She is known for many things, one of which is her occasional “egg” on the pitch. But she is better known for her determination as she never gives up, and her silky skills help her to score some wonder goals!

Rachel Perry

Rachel is like one of her famous Victoria sponges, hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Opposition players, supporters and umpires mess with her on the hockey pitch at your peril! Rachel’s pre- match preparation ritual is moisturise, moisturise, moisturise and it doesn’t matter if you carry on during the team talk! Rachel does like to keep herself busy which generally leads to her being known as ‘chief faff’ but she does it all with such enthusiasm we tend to let her off! There is only one event bigger than the Olympics in 2012 when Rach becomes a RAT!

Hannah Watkins

Hannah has been around for a bit now and is never very far away from the action! Her energy and commitment on the pitch is great to see but not if you’re an opposition defender!

Liz Yull

Never has anything of such small stature made themselves into such a giant to all that play against her. Hunting the ball down, wherever it is and never ever giving up. Fierce when in the zone but we all know what a softy she is underneath it all…Ruby really is an awesome dog…her owner Liz is pretty good at hockey to.
