Match Report - 26 Sep 2009, WEST HERTS HOCKEY CLUB Ladies 1XI beat Wapping
Six points from their first two games, West Herts couldn't have got off to a better start. After last week's win with the team not playing to their potential Saturday's performance was much improved and the win deserved. A second consecutive short corner strike from Vicki Honour got the team off to a good start and for the first 32 minutes of the the first half West Herts showed great control, with the midfield keeping possession, giving Wapping no time to settle on the ball and creating opportunities down their right hand side. They managed to double their lead during this time when a great through ball from player of the match, Becky Perry found Jen Black who cooly rounded the goal keeper to pass the ball into an empty goal. Jane Hurt added a third goal in the second half and whilst Wapping managed a consolation goal West Herts could have easily been looking at doubling their goal tally but attempts shaving either post let Wapping go away with a more respectable score line.
