JUNIOR COACHING

2009 - 10 Season 

Courses to be held at Easter and in summer holidays

Sunday morning Junior Coaching started Jan 17th to April 18th
excluding March 14 and 21 when older age county tournaments are on, and Easter April 4th, April 11th is only until 11.30. 

Thursday evening session is from 7-8pm (senior school age) Re-starts Jan 14th ends 25th March - may continue after Easter but extra fee payable

The Sunday sessions are split as follows - Under 11's from 9.45 until 10.45
 11 and over 10.30 to 11.45 or 12.00.
Volunteers are required to help with these sessions and more importantly to run the various teams - help is always needed - contact Kim if you can help in any way. Press officer, Fixtures liaison? You name it, the job's available.

Senior Saturday sides - 13 is the youngest age allowed to play in adult Hockey. Last season alot of the ladies 4th and mens 6th teams were juniors. As yet we have little idea of what the competition for places will be, senior games are on Saturdays.

 

The junior session is 7-8 on Thursdays and the ladies 3/4 training follows at 8.00 and mens at 8.30, so some juniors do both.

We will have junior U15 and U16 sides this season with maybe 4 or 5 games each on a Sunday.

Junior subs are £40 to cover Sunday and Thursday sessions and adult training sessions. There are additional match fees of £1 Sunday and about £7.50 for playing in the senior teams. Match transport is organised on a game by game basis depending on where and who is playing.

 Junior Hockey 2009/10 

The Sunday Junior coaching sessions will commence on 6th September, 2009.

We cater for all abilities and a wide range of ages, with children starting from as young as five up to 16 year olds. Many of our players have graduated to play for the men's and ladies teams and join in their training sessions.

Coaching

The coaching sessions are on Sunday mornings at 9.45am, as follows:

  • 9.45 to 10.45 From age 5 up to Under 11s
  • 10.30 to 11.45 Age 11 and over Boys and Girls.
  • Thursday evenings 7pm to 8pm - Initially Age 11 upwards Boys and Girls

We divide the children up into appropriate groups during the sessions, based on age, experience and ability.

Juniors (14+ / ability) are also welcome to train with the main club on Thursday evenings.

8.00 to 9.30 for girls and 8.30 to 10.00 for boys.

You can join at any time - just turn up to one of the sessions and introduce yourself to one of the coaches. Dates of the coaching sessions are as follows: Please try it before paying any subs.

  • September 6th - December 6th. Except 25 October.
  • January 10th - March 28th. Half-term break on 21st February, no coaching March 14th
  • Presentation and fun morning after Easter

Matches

We have an U16 Boys/Girls teams entered in the Mercian League / Home counties leagues, plus U9 & U11 Mixed, U13 boys & girls, U15 Boys & Girls teams all in the "Herts Junior League". There will be the occasional tournaments and friendly games for other age groups, 

We need organisers for all teams. If you are interested in  'managing' or 'organising' a team let me know or if you can umpire for a match, this is also appreciated.

Fees

Costs are as follows for the full year. There are 25 sessions planned, occasionally we cancel due to the weather (if the pitch is frozen):

  • £20 per child 5 and 6 year olds (age as at 1st September) £12 after Xmas
  • £30 per child aged 7-10 (£15)
  • £40 per child aged 11 and over (£20)
  • £1 when playing a match - to be used on home teas
